What does "verified" mean on GemChain?
It means the stone’s recorded event history hash-chains correctly against what was anchored on-chain, and that this page recomputed that check itself rather than displaying an unverified claim. It does not mean GemChain graded or authenticated the stone.
Who can register a gemstone?
Only a wallet holding the on-chain "miner" role. Apply for a role from your dashboard after registering; an administrator reviews applications before granting the on-chain role.
How do I buy a listed gem?
Submit a purchase request from the listing page. If the seller accepts, GemChain notifies you both — settlement and the on-chain ownership transfer happen directly between you and the seller. GemChain does not process payments or hold funds.
Why does GemChain need my wallet, not a password?
GemChain uses Sign-In-With-Ethereum: you sign a one-time message with your existing wallet to prove control of your address. No password is ever collected, and GemChain never asks for or stores a private key or seed phrase.
What happens if a certificate is revoked?
The issuing laboratory can revoke a certificate on Cardano. GemChain reflects the revocation on the stone’s record rather than hiding it — a revoked certificate is shown as revoked, not removed.
Can a role be reassigned or removed?
On-chain roles are granted by an administrator and are not self-service. If you need a role changed, contact an administrator through your organisation’s usual channel.
